Pet in Nature

Porcelain, 2018

Fusing nature and the man-made, using porcelain to create bottles to in-house fish and plants, symbolising nature's resilient rebirth within once-threatening plastic.

Addressing plastic pollution concerns, this work challenges preconceptions, offering hope as the porcelain vessels become both medium and metaphor, showcasing nature's transformative power.

Encased in porcelain, the living entities invite contemplation of nature's adaptability. The delicate craftsmanship against plastic's perceived harshness urges viewers to see coexistence potential beyond the surface.

Prompting a reconsideration of plastic's impact on ecosystems, the series envisions delicate porcelain as a protector and nurturer of life, proposing a narrative of plastic becoming nature. These vessels stand as testaments to nature's resilience, emphasising its ability to rebound and flourish even in unexpected environments.

This work encourages a collective shift in consciousness towards a more harmonious relationship between humanity and nature, sparking conversations about our responsibility and acknowledging  the changes humanity can make on this world.
